Woman dies in hospital after shooting in west suburban


A 19-year-old woman died from her injuries after a shooting in southwest suburban Wheaton Friday morning, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police and the medical examiner did not immediately release details about the woman’s condition.

The shooting happened in the 7800 block of West Madison Avenue about 3:15 a.m.

Police were called to the scene to investigate a domestic dispute, according of Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Dugan.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wheaton Police Department Lt.

Tom McElroy said police were called about 3 a.c. to the 8500 block of North Lawndale Avenue when the shooting occurred.

Police found a 19-yo woman, with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

She was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced deceased.

Police are investigating whether a second victim may have been involved in the shooting.

McElroys said Wheaton police are still investigating the incident and would release more information as it becomes available.
